Welcome to serpico.org, a site dedicated to the grassroot ideals felt throughtout much of America's heartland. This site serves as perhaps one of the first of its kind, a platform advocating a realistic view of America and the evolution of protectionism. We at serpico.org are strongly opposed to an ever expanding government engaging in social programs which do little more than enable people to lead a life of dependence. We truely sympathize with the variety of situations people stumble into and by no means do we advocate eliminating aid to those in need. However, there has to be a legitimate effort to wean people off of government assistance once their basic needs have been met. Unfortunately, we feel as though our new President, President Obama is moving in the direction of unrealisitic spending on a variety of "feel good" programs which in reality hold struggling people down. Perhaps some of the economic stimulus could go towards investigating welfare fraud, enforcing expired visas of non-citizens, and building infrastructure such as prisons so places like California don't release offenders back into society early.
I have spent the last eight years listening to powerful members of the Democratic party second-guessing every decision made by the Bush administration and by Republicans as a whole. I know I don't stand alone in recognizing the difficulties George Bush Jr. dealt with during his first term in office, i.e. the 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington. I also remember Americans united together in anger over the atrocities committed by Islamic terrorists when they murdered thousands on our soil. Geroge Bush Jr. reacted to this as most of us expected him to, quickly and without hesitation. I appreciated that.
I also remember thinking to myself how our countries generally united sentiments will change in the months following 9/11. For many, the "blame game" began when weapons of mass destruction weren't found. How anybody can see this as a bad thing is beyond me. Our mission was to end a terrorist regime! Mission accomplished!
